I’m approved for a lung transplant, but I don’t need it yet.

Back from the Lung Center in Philadelphia.  They’d gone over all the results of all the tests and made their recommendations and it worked out just the way I hoped it would….I’m approved to be put on the list, when I need it, but I don’t need it yet.  They like to get people pre-approved who they feel may be relatively close to needing a transplant.  This disease has a history of going along for awhile without getting much worse, then the bottom falls out.  Mine in particular is pretty far advance, but I’m in the “without getting much worse” stage.  But now they can move quickly if and when the need comes.  I’ll have my lungs tested every three months to see how much air I can take in, and see if that’s changing.  There are a couple of superficial things I need to take care of, and basically, that’s it!

I couldn’t be happier.  There will be a time that I’m sure I’ll be ready for the transplant, but not yet.  I sure appreciate all the time and effort the U of Penn Lung Center has taken. (But Philadelphia traffic still sucks)

And I REALLY appreciate the good wishes, thoughts, and prayers of friends, family, followers, and other unknown folks who have been reading this blog.  Something is working.  Good things are happening for me. VERY good things.  My original pulmonologist didn’t think I’d make it to last Spring.  We showed him, huh!  And we’re going to keep on keeping on, and maybe, just maybe, while we’re doing that, they’ll find a cure.  Thanks, folks.  Thanks, God.

I don’t know you, and I haven’t been following you Tumblr for so long, but you’ve made me stop and think and appreciate everything good in my life every single day. I amazes me how you are able to count your blessings and keep a positive spin on everything that goes on in your life, despite the hardships you have to live through every day.

I’ve been thinking about you the last week, and this post really made my day! :D
